Independence Day

Tomorrow is Independence Day for India. Other than shopping offers and a public holiday what else is there for the common public? I don't have cable TV @ home, but I am sure some latest movie will be on along with some celebrity interviews. Personally, I don't think even remembering what people went through in that time period is enough. A necessity to re-enact that today is needed - not against colonization or as a public demonstration of revolution. But against this set lethargy and settling down to status quo. We will need to take this nation towards a common vision for the future that encompasses all citizens of the nation.

That doesn't mean joining the G10 league or focusing on industrial development - though they may be part of the vision. It needs to encompass holistic aspects like environment, population maintenance, health, transparent Governance and finally - overall development of consciousness of the country.

As individuals, we should align with people doing this work in one form or the other.

As Governments, unless parties cut through the crud of just slandering one another in front of the media and work together towards this goal, what is seriously the point? It is all one big drama! Why even ask me to vote if none will commit to something like this?
