Karma

Binding as rope
Resilient as a ball
Transparent as glass
And devoid of hope
These cycles repeat.
Sly as the devil
It exists yet without notice
In its grip the lot
Deadliest concoction it is
When the trap dresses like freedom
The master plan of the Creator
for the human to unwrap these layers
life time after tiring life time
One small slip on the design
for He did not account for Him!

A matter of perspective

Little Raju showed up dripping wet at home. He had just returned from an examination and was holding his exam pad in his had. School was less than half a kilometer away and he always walked to school.

His mother was annoyed at his absent-mindedness.

"Raju, you couldn't have used your pad to cover your head or just waited in a shade till the rain subsided?"

"But mommy!", Raju protested, "then I won't get wet!"

Independence Day

Tomorrow is Independence Day for India. Other than shopping offers and a public holiday what else is there for the common public? I don't have cable TV @ home, but I am sure some latest movie will be on along with some celebrity interviews. Personally, I don't think even remembering what people went through in that time period is enough. A necessity to re-enact that today is needed - not against colonization or as a public demonstration of revolution. But against this set lethargy and settling down to status quo. We will need to take this nation towards a common vision for the future that encompasses all citizens of the nation.

That doesn't mean joining the G10 league or focusing on industrial development - though they may be part of the vision. It needs to encompass holistic aspects like environment, population maintenance, health, transparent Governance and finally - overall development of consciousness of the country.

As individuals, we should align with people doing this work in one form or the other.

As Governments, unless parties cut through the crud of just slandering one another in front of the media and work together towards this goal, what is seriously the point? It is all one big drama! Why even ask me to vote if none will commit to something like this?

Commercialization of Culture

In my opinion, this is the worst thing that can happen to a culture.

Cultural change is inevitable. It changes with time and technology. It can also change because it commingles with another culture. But vested commercial interests often take a cultural aspect and use it as a selling point. Once it settles down, it goes to the next step - so on until what was existing is so badly distorted or no longer exists.

Just typing this because here, I saw two restaurants that figured "dosa" with Coca Cola (photograph)! How is dosa related to Coca Cola? If anything, dosa predates it by hundreds of years. The restaurant even listed "taste of food only with Coke!". C'Mon!
