After about one year of usage (with periods on and off inbetween) - I guess I see no tangible benefit other than a state of deep relaxation during and after the usage of these tracks. It is also clear that my brain likes these sound signals, and I can also feel the cycles move from alpha through delta. Not using these tracks for a few days causes me to detect differences within my head - a sense of feeling that something is out of balance. I partly feel that the usage is good and partly feel that it may have caused a dependancy.
Centerpoine claims that meditative states deeper than those found in zen monks can be acheived through Holosync (and Zen monks spend most of their lives meditating). I guess they arrived at this conclusion after testing the EEG of zen monks and measuring the alpha, theta and delta cycles and comparing it with people using Holosync. At an electrical level, this claim might be true. But I think a vital component that has been overlooked is that of awareness. I guess no product can force awareness into a being. I think awareness can flower only through free-will. At best, the product can create conditions conducive for awareness - which I agree Holosync does. Incredibly enough, Osho spoke about this long long back - and his insight into this aspect without actual usage boggles my mind.
I think this is the cycle of a meditator: Be aware -> Brain advances from beta to alpha to delta to deep delta. In the final stage, the meditator is in a deeply relaxed state.
I think this is what brain wave entrainment hopes (Holosync at least) to create: Use binaural beats to advance brain from beta to alpha to delta to deep delta -> Deep meditative state.
But an essential component of meditation is awareness which the meditator has to consciously create. In my personal experience, I've been able to be unaware even with the delta states. In some cases, the final delta state has put me into very deep sleep - admittedly, it feels very nice and provides deep rest.
In summary, I think Holosync is beneficial - the left/right brain balancing aspect and the willful production of these brain states along with the chemicals (endorphins) that provide a restful atmosphere are very conducive. Additionally, it also creates a very good platform for being meditative - however, I disagree that Holosync creates meditative states. Technically, if "meditative state" is the willful creation of a deep delta state - may be the claim is valid. But for me, if awareness is missing, I would not call the state 'meditative'. I know it's a fine-line, but I think the differences in implications are enormous.
I guess I would continue using Holosync for the benefits it provides, but now having experiential proof of what Osho said long long back.
And the affirmations don't seem to have much effect either.
If I've spoken too soon - hopefully, I should be able to provide an update at a later time.
